Qualifications and professional experience
As a university-qualified translator, I gained my degree in translation from the Department of Applied Linguistics and Cultural Studies (F.A.S.K.) at the Germersheim campus of Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in 1994.
I am also a publicly appointed and officially authorised provider of ‘sworn’ translations from English and French as recognised by the First District Court of Munich.
Professional memberships
I am a member of the BDÜ (the Federal Association of Interpreters and Translators) and regularly attend seminars to ensure that my knowledge of sectoral, technical and linguistic trends is always up to date.
To be accepted as a member of the BDÜ, all translators must provide evidence of their professional qualification.
Membership of the BDÜ is a sign of both quality and compliance with the regulations and legal requirements that apply to the translation profession.
BDÜ members are bound by the association’s Code of Professional Conduct.
Translation memory (CAT) tools
I am a passionate advocate of the use of translation memory (CAT) tools – specifically, SDL Trados Studio and memoQ – in my daily work.
These tools store completed translation ‘segments’ in what is known as a ‘translation memory’ so that they can be accessed for subsequent translations.
This ensures that documents remain terminologically consistent and also makes the translation process faster and more efficient.

University-qualified translator
After working for three years as a team leader in the Nuremberg branch of an international translation agency, I started my own business in 1999.
My working languages are English, French and German. As my mother tongue is German, I translate exclusively into German.
Since 2006, I have lived in France and therefore have plenty of opportunities to speak, listen, read, and write the language and, of course, also enjoy the culinary delights on offer locally.
Having lived in the border town of Sarreguemines since 2013, I can take advantage of the cultural riches and benefits of both France and Germany.
What’s more, I live only a short way from a German post office. This is very useful, for example, when a client in Germany urgently requires a certified translation that has to be sent by post.
